MARCH 5 1948. Downtown in early AM. Baked bread apple crisp, bread pudding and raisin cake. Did mending. Painters only ones working today. Hans made shelf for dust-catcher from Roodt's chute. I called on Mrs. Jake Schlump to look at her 9 x 19 rug. Copied my list of Memorial books and wrote Doris W. 1949. Cleaned apt., baked bread and rolls, did a lot of mending. Went to Guild bake sale. Looked at "Continental" portable sewing machine at Lubeke's. 1950 Awake in early AM for about 3 hrs - the first time in 2 whole weeks! I drove Frank's Olds to church c Hans and his mother. Signe out in PM and for supper. 1951. Hans still in bed most of day. I washed, hanging clothes outside for first time since Nov! Also ironed. Lovely sunny day. In eve went to village caucus; record crowd of 124. 1952 More callers, esp. at funeral home where we were most of P.M and eve. Weary from too much standing. Frank met his grandma and Amanda on PM bus. Many offers of beds for Iowa folks, also kitchen keepers. Fred and Adele drove from Virginia, [illegible]. No snow there!
