APRIL 8 1948. Up at 5:20, wrote letters and mailed 4. Cold and windy - just when I wanted to work outside. Pressed Hans' suit and mine, and Frank's new blue curtains. Mr. Newman told me village board will give us extra library room. Baked first cookies in range. 1949. Freshmen learned "Pig in the Parlor" and have learned "Skip to Mallou" and Capt. Jinks. Hans' vets are sowing oats, so he had only 2 calls and we went home before 4. Found Frank just beginning to be able to eat after ill a wk. 1950 Baked raisin whole wheat bread and choc. chip bars - Hans and I walked downtown twice and finally ordered a car (after months of delay) - a Chevrolet. Got "Tiny" Gullransen's book on China 52 degrees 1951 Slept till 8. K and I drove to church. 10 in adult S.S. class, last of my teaching unit. Sig came at 2. We played 500. Took her back after 7. Called on Frank Beiss'. Kerl and wife there. 56. 1952. Short job of ironing. Gave Frank's closet floor cleaning and waxing.
