MAY 5 1948. Beautiful day. Worked from 9 to 2 at church; served lap lunch to 127 women from Dave Co. Homemakers' mtg. I took in tickets, helped set up chairs, wiped dishes, etc. Noisy at library with new office for Aug. Dahlk, village clerk, going up. Marie L. here in eve. 1949. Another hot day. Lilacs and fruit trees all in bloom. Visiting day for 8" graders. Sophs. served them ice cream bars and orange juice. We and Scotts had 320 lb. hog butchered - dressed out 90%. 1950. I took off kitchen storm windows. Up at 5:10 instead of 6:10! Made cookies. Owen brought K from hospital at noon after 4 days there. 1951. Hans and I took off storm windows and put on screens for Gugel's. Packed box for Marie, got some garments for Europe at Catholic rummage sale. Planted 25 strawberries. Tho cold and windy, we all planted late peas, potatoes, carrots, and spinach in new garden. Wore a garden dress. 1952. Still hot and sunny. Did 10 day washing, softened water, to Branch for special OPS report. Took Mmes. Utter, Gates, David, Morgan and Hallock to Guest Day at Mazomanie - Margo Phillips took a load. Watered strawberries and flowers. Comm. Council in eve.
