MAY 11 1948. More rain - or rather showers. Mrs. Lois Malcolm took me to Mrs. John Kruse to Prairie du Sac for Dist. library conference. Mrs. [Orrilla?] Thompson called on me from panel for financing library. 1949. Letter from Hilda, she is engaged to Vincent. I didn't sleep till about 2 AM. Srs and Jrs made pie. Hans put frozen pig in our deep freeze. 57 degrees ave. 1950. Awake in night - got up and wrote "Am. Thanksgiving" poem. Washed and waxed upper hall; K and I laid rose carpet runner there. Walked downtown. We gardened some. Only buttermilk and custard for supper. 1951. Baked fruit turnovers. Hans home from Neillsville at 10 PM. 1952. Slept nearly 8 hrs. K and I to S.S. 12 in class. K. helped Jane Boyce in nursery. Sig, Frank, and K here for dinner. Sig gave me book [illegible] and tree stationery. Marian a big Red Radiance rosebush. K 2 doz. pic of new Hosp. Annex. Prof and Mrs. C.A. Easum here to get "Triumph der Kriegeskunst". In eve Sig and Marian showed Colo. N. Mex. and Ark. views. Olga phoned Donald Andresen passed away. Mother's Day - wore winter coat.
