1948 Finished painting first coat on last of 32 screen frames, also painted outside window frames second coat on K + d.n. Hans + I called on Gen. MacLean's in eve. Tired as usual. 1949. Hans busy with a state man so I drove out to Marilyn Linton + Lorraine Storms'. Worked in Home Ec. room in P.M. New lettuce from country for supper. Hans + I went to Orville Olson's on way to Middleton in eve. I made out my Home Ec. chart. 1950. Up at 7. Set out tomato plants. After lunch we + Frank drove to Maquoketa in Ford borrowed of Zarndt's. Stopped at Joiner's, grandma's, Oskar's + to Olga's for supper + overnight. Kathryn helping Carmilla paint, etc. 1951. More rain + cold. K + I walked to church. She + Avis ran the nursery. Hans stayed up north. K + I sat in kitchen to keep warm. 1952. Slept 7 hrs. straight, but found I had pretty bad intestinal flu or something. Did my ironing piecemeal. Worked a little on bookkeeping. Rainy P.M.
