June 18 1948 Slept 8 hours under plenty covers. Cleaned apt. Baked. Hans home from first week at Muscoda about 8. 1949 Awake before 3. Up before 5, packing. After breakfast, Hans and I packed in Morris chair, ironing board, etc. etc. and went home by 9. Frank is still home, working on truck. K and Hans took strawberries in to Sig. I cleaned apt. and boys' rooms. In PM. Hans and I went to Carrie Venthien auction. Hans got narrow bed and white table. 1950 Rain in night. Kathryn started working at Larson's Restaurant, 7-3. We walked to church, S.S. Signe out for Father's Day, gave him Gunther's biography of Roosevelt. Furnace fire necessary for comfort. 1951 Hans and I packed and left Dora's at 7:40. She gave me forget me nots, a peperonia, cosmos, Called on Mike Kelly and wife at Waterloo 10-11 Walebter's (?) at Epworth 2-3. Home just at 6. Pauline gave us 4 qt. strawberries. K and I froze 5 cheese boxes full. 1952 Picked 2 qt. berries, froze 1, Frank up for 3 full meals- just for a wk. I worked at Branch while he went to the yd. In P.M. we took painted window frames to duplex, cleaned some in basement and garage. Wm. Rabe called.
