June 22 1948 Hans' mother and I went in to Madison on 8:20 bus. To Capitol, where I got application papers from Miss Crowley, Dept. Pub. (illegible). Mother S. had Dr. Nesbit fit her eyes for glasses. Home to find Hilda and Deloris gone. To (illegible) in new Dodge. 1949 Sewed all of Hans' 2 new lavender nightshirts, started cutting striped seersucker dress, made 3 buttonholes in "wrinkleproof" dress. Called on Elmore W, he and Carrie there in eve. Considering buying our place. 1950 Woke up sneezing but went to my last day at Bible school. Felt tough, but made cake in eve for picnic. Read in Robt. Casey's "Black Hills". 1951 Cool. Kathryn stemmed crate of berries, I froze a lot, made conserve and cooked a lot for canning. Made strawberry "melobel" ice. Took nap. Hans and I called on Muehlmeiers and I on Deone. 1952 K and I took Mrs. Murray to church. Tired (illegible) to be content to read all of Nevil Shute's "The Legacy". (Australia).
