June 28 1948 Too wet for washing. Served a little baked bread and cake. Shopped at Scott's. Frank here as his Ford needs repairs. Checked out 40 books at lib. 1949 Hot and clear after rain so Lois S and I washed. I just did my robes, 3 dresses, 7 pr. nylons, etc. Made bound buttonholes in my dress, put fresh papers in 5 rooms. John and Lois Shafer left after lunch. Alone in apt. and only 3 in whole house! 1950 To bed after midnight! Did up all last supper dishes, hoed. Walked to bank. At 1:30 went with Hans in new car to Fond du Lac. Rain 3/4 p.m. Hard time to find cabin. On edge of Lake Winnebago. To bed early. 1951 Cut out and made Hans peach seersucker nightshirt. Hemmed 3 dish towels and stamped sunbonnet girls on them. Got $497.49 to settle Father's estate from sale of last of Jersey Ride property in (illegible). 1952 Slept till nearly 8, (only chance on Sat.) Ironed curtains, labeled Branch circulars in AM, cooked a young chicken, worked 3-1/4 hours in PM. Very hot. K and I to Heights garden in eve, then I drove to Mdltn. Jct. Live forevers (?) growing (illegible).
