July 9 1948 Felt O.K. so went in on 8:20 bus and bought myself some clothes: white shoes, hat, light pastel suit, black and white dress. Home 12:30. Sewed. 1949 Sweater and suit and scarf, not as much as many others wear to keep warm on deck. Got a danish book from library and we read one story. Bought some postcards of the ship. Worked some needlepoint. Talked with Hr and Fr Sorensen and Hjemreise til Denmark. 1950 Hot day. Frank left suddenly for Rockford, Ill. Hans and I went to church (seats were necessary in aisle) and SS. I taught Mrs. Lloyd's first graders. Home with Mrs. Hallock for dinner, also with Mr. and Mrs. Ernstrom. At 3 took K and Mrs. H to Dan Hallock's for supper. Stop at Bruno Kirkpatrick's. 1951 Sunny. K and I varnished 3 lawn chairs and (illegible) stool. I gave bedroom chair a coat (one Hilda bought in Washington 9 or 10 years ago). Slept an hr. Finished "Peabody Sisters". Hemmed dish towel. 1952 Slept 7 hrs. but tired all day. Painted last screen first coat, and N and W garage windows second coat. Worked at Branch Co. in P.M. Watered lawns and flowers in eve. (Line carried over from bottom of July 8 page:) Formosa, with nice mentions of Hans.
