July 13 1948 Slept till 6:30, as it turned cooler. Went on Muscoda school bus to Prairie du Chien with Mrs. White, Mrs. Mitchell and Joy, Doris and girls, (illegible) - picnic in Wyalusing State Park. Thru Villa Louis. Hans and I at Carl Olson's in eve. Home on bus from Gotham. 1949 In sight of land all PM - Scotland south of us, Orkney Islands on north. Took pics of sunset. Chat with Portland librarian. Set time back our 6th hr on way over. 1950 Went into Madison on 10 AM bus, out on 12:05. Bought pink suit. Frank came from Rockford where he is working in machine shop; here for lunch. 1951 Wakeful spell 3 nights in a row - after so long a period of good sleeping. Up 8:45! Finished 20th dishtowel hem - mostly for Guild. Shampooed hair, dried in sun. K and I walked to garden for peas and beans. Hans home, 7. We all went to sp. congregational mtg, 8 to 11. 1952 Good sleep. Took Mrs. Murray to church. Not very big congregation. Read in "The Sea Around Us". Nap. No. porch visits in eve, from Mr. Offerdahl and Sig and Marian. Softened water.
