July 17 1948 Hans didn't get home till 9 P.M. I cut out and seamed up skirt of blue and white jersey dress, did some cleaning. Very busy at library. 67 books in P.M. - Also readied more Jacobs books, etc. We went out for milk at 9:30. 1949 Slept from 2 to 9. Took 9:30 motor bus to world's third largest airport, conducted tour. Long walk, ice cream, call on Sven's brother, dinner downtown. Elec. train to Klampenburg, amusement park. Tired. Back to Tivoli an hour or so then home and eat again. Bed, 9:30. 1950 Wrote some letters. D.C. inspector kept Hans so he didn't get home from Madison till 7. Read in "Toward the Morning" by Henry Allen. 1951 Ironed - Got card from downtown, drove to garden, picked beans, froze 3 pkg. Pauline and Rita Walehter and Mr. McBride from Farley here 5-7. 1952 Slept nearly 8 hrs. Did ironing before 7 (except 1 dress).
