July 30 1948 More comfortable day. Last day of Voc. Home Ec. Conference. On tour thru Home Ec. and Home Management Bldgs. Shopped at Piggly Wiggly. K and I stained 2 old oak chairs - too dark. Frank came home at 11 from Marshfield. 1949 Hotel Kikkenborg in Bramminge - awake 3 - my 1st wakeful spell in Denmark, then slept on top featherbed! Train to Ribe with Hartingsen's. Bought 1 needlepoint in B- 6 Smaaske in B - and Ribe amber ear rings, souvenirs. Tour of old city. I climbed tower in Domkirken. Pics of storks, Queen Dagmar and Slot, old street, flowers. Signed in Raadhus. Talked with lady from Vesterhassing who knows Flo's cousin! Hotel Dagmar. Slept on top of Fjerdyne! 1950 Walked to church. Taught Mrs. Raccoli's class of SS girls. Frank and I here for lunch. Hans at Uncle Chris'. Shower in PM cooled it off. Finished reading Haldor Laxness' "Independent People". 1951 Washed, had some help, also in picking, processing, and freezing 10 Pt. beans from Vold's garden. Ironed, mopped. Sent for Fashion Frock book. 1952 Awake 2 to 5 with pain (colitis) from Cora Lee Lemcke's iced pop - Washed, another confab with electricians. Worked in office all PM, Marcia helping with statements. Cool. Men finished outside of house at 2121 Univ.
