Muscoda 6:30 p.m. 1949 Washed my hair in Danish rainwater. Rec'd several stares. Packed 40 lb. groceries for the Fluchtlinge in Potensee, mostly from U.S. to Leste - cheese and pork from Aunt Kathrine. Heavy luggage! 1950 Didn't sleep well. We left at 7:15; I drove the first 80 miles, then K and Hans. Picnic lunch by a rural school. Balsam Lake at 2:30. Mr. Vold helped us arrange house. Velma's arrived at 6:30. Supper on porch. Quite warm. 9 of us here till Sunday. 1951 Canned 2 qt. of (illegible) of So. Carolina peaches. In eve to see "Light Up the Sky" at Mem. Union. Don Phelps in it. 1952 Hot.
