August 10 1948 Hotter. Too much street light and too tired to sleep well so slept from 1 to 2 P.M. Called on Beverly Beran, , Carol Muller, Beverly Shield, Mary Gabler. Shower in P.M. I waxed old desk and second chair. Put up "tiger lily" curtains in kitchen. 1949 "Tina" Nissen took us to Sommerstadt for train to Germany. Rode too far, got off, went back, off at Padborg where Hans bought tickets for Berlin and I went thru customs. To Hamburg on International express. Copenhagen woman in our compartment smoked 3 cigars! Roof of big Bohnhof in Hamburg only rafters. Many bldgs. still are in ruins. Dim lights. A drizzly eve. A singing drunk in Bohnhof (illegible). 1950 Very cool. Breakfast on porch, but chicken dinner in house. Wrote letters and cards. Indian Henry Hart took Paul and Velma fishing in Vold's boat - we had fish for supper, also "for dessert" wiener and marshmallow roast in back yard fireplace. Then 2 games Lexington rummy. I won one, Paul 1. Hans works in courthouse across St. 1951 Canned 10 gl. peaches. In eve stopped at Hofstad's - farewell to Mr and Mrs Riggs. As ex officio board member at church board mtg. Parsonage plan finally adopted. 1952 Hilda and I went with Barber's to Renton where he preached at Meth. church. Saw Snoqualmie Valley. Back to Hilda's Tacoma apt. in eve. Rode more than 100 miles.
