August 15 1948 Fine breakfast at Kira cafe's ., on Wm. Deaw's and John, near Camden. Drove an hr then stopped going uphill - were from 10 till nearly 3 at a farmer's near Waynesville finding a bare wire. Drove till 9:30. At new log cabin tonight camp in W. Va. Mts. 1949 Another nice day, gave Marie new apron, striped jersey dress of Lois Shafer's - the Knieps Burton Scott's corduroy pants, wool sox, etc. (illegible) to all. (In PM walked ;up to horizon took pics of fields - last week). (illegible) just day of school, walked to next will go in PM. 1950 90 degrees K and I did a washing on Vold's machine. Took nap, wrote letters, walked to P.O. before dinner. Slept in P.M! K and I out on Balsam late till shower chased us in. Hans beat us in Lexington rummy. 1951 Didn't sleep till after 2! No use my eating at night. Canned 8 gl peaches, baked bread. Nap. Heavy rain in PM 1952 Slept till 9! 7 of us here - We picked several bu. pears from 2 trees and more berries. I picked berries from a ladder! Prolts and Hilda went to Lebanon in eve. Had sherbet (or ice cream) when they came back. To bed early 11:50 DST
