August 17 1948 Awake last half of night with bad indigestion. So didn't get up till about 11 AM EDS time. Also Daisy and I slept in P.M. Lula Pearl Renner, Hans and I called on (Fu?) Hanson in eve, also Mr and Mrs G. Briggs. 1949 So tired we slept till 9 - on real springs and sheets and down cover. Cashed $60 at bank. Left Hannover, changed trains at Bremen and Sande. Got to Jever (at 6:30) Walked to Iben's with baggage on (illegible) bicycle. Inga came at 10. Hr. Hojo Iben walked to hotel. 1950 Hans working in Balsam Lake. K and I rowed around Big Island and took pics. Miss Byrne called. I won last game of Lex. rummy. 1951 Canned last of second bu. peaches, 4-1/2 qt. Froze corn from Sig's, Neumann's (our lot) and our Mdltn. Heights garden - 8 qt, and 1 of beans. Hans and I to W. Kenyon's in eve - new house. 1952 Up at 6. 8 for breakfast. Farewells and are leave for Tacoma 9:45. Anna with Pratt's for San Mateo, Calif. We stopped at Irene and Edgar Wood's in Portland and at Vera Hankin's in Tacoma. She and we went to Am. Lake and Vet. Hospital. Then Hilda took me to Defiance Pt. park. To bed early in her apt.
