August 22 1948 HOT We all went to church. At 12 Rev. and Mrs. Weirwill went to his home in ONio. I ironed, packed. K and I went to garden - 1st limas, com. melons, tomatoes. We drove to Muscoda with Morris chair, etc. 1949 Bought 3 pieces of silver at Niebull and 2 bread boards. Begged a plat deutsch girl ashtray from Gasthof. Tiny car took our baggage to train, we walked! Thru customs at Flensburg, Germany, on exp. to Padborg, where I got Danmark spam for Flo and Hans left films. Waited 2 hrs. there and 1 at Sommerstedt. Bus to Lute, 7. Supper, coffee. Tired. 1950 We ironed. Mailed Frank his laundry. 1951 Drove to Carl Meyer's for buttermilk, got corn from garden. Made orange-buttermilk sherbet. Nap. Mended. Typed Flower Show Rules and classes. 1952 47 degrees. Up at 5 after 7 solid hours sleep. Did a reel full of washing. Picked five tomatoes back of garage at 2121 Univ. Ave. Worked at Branch, brought Eleanor Z to Dr. Heighway, then worked at home. At Kromrey's and Offerdahls in eve. Wrote 7.
