August 23 1948 92 degrees, 102 degrees at LaCrosse where Hans and class visited Agr. Exp. Station. I called on Mrs. Kratochwill, Ruth Pospichal (and mother) and Virginia Studnicht and family (peeled peaches!) Very hard to live in any comfort. 1949 Rested at Aunt Kathrine's. In PM while Hans bicycled to Vojens, she made a lovely Krans of evergreen, glads and lavender statice, which she and I took to the Smeden's. To Fedensborg's in eve - cocoa! Platdanske is harder than ever to understand. 1950 Canned 5 pt. peaches, made peach cake. Mrs. Utter called in P.M. Quite warm. Hans taking vacation rest of week. We worked in garage. 1951 Slept better, more enthusiasm for work, canned 6 pt. Swiss chard, froze 3 pt. leaves. Put new hem in teal faille and took it to cleaners, started on pr. pink pillow cases. Wrote 2 letters and cards. 1952 Did big ironing in 2 hrs. Got Revere kettle for wedding gift, mailed Branch circulars. Worked at office 1 to 4. To reception for Mary and Robt. Resnick at Hadley's. Trenk's and Bock's there and many I did not know. Read in "A Garden to the East" in eve. Anna May in a while.
