August 24 1948 Still hotter. Walked downtown twice, bought fountain pen, some dishes for school, lace for nylon dress, linen, toweling, etc. Called on Betty Foley. Hemmed a towel in eve, washed nylon dress, etc. 1949 Rested up by eve - then Aunt K had Paul Nissen's and Fedensborgs in for coffee. 3 kinds of cake, cookies and special whipped cream tarts from the bakery. So tho we had no coffee in PM we did not sleep till about 2 AM 1950 Canned 5 qt. peaches and 7 qt. cherries - the latter from 30 lb. tin frozen ones. K and I also froze 10 pkg. Also 3 pkg beets. Called on Carrie Van Norman at her request. 1951 K. helped Hans raise frame for 1 side of garage on Univ. Ave. Walked downtown. In eve had Guild exec. Comm. here. All present - Ruby S - Treas; Janet Loyd, sec; Verna Voth, 1st V.P. Deone Rabe, 2nd VP; Esther Kal 3rd V.P. 1952 Awake 4 till 5:30 - probably wedding cake! Then slept till 8:45. To garden for corn and carrots. To Baptist church in Madison with Rabe's. Signe here from 2 to 6:30. So cool in house we sat in yard! Frank and I took her in. Wrote letters in eve.
