AUGUST 25 1948. Still very hot. Walked to school twice, checked the 4 sewing machines. Ordered a part. In eve Mrs. Kratochwill and I ordered lunch supplies at Walsh's, Bock's, Huppler and Postel's. Ordered a fig. 1949. Washed 2 weeks or so supply of clothes. Sum in P.M. so all dried. Hans and I to [Hodersler?] for a Husholdnings dem. which did not materialize. Had pics taken for RR pass, went to a "Fodpleje" for trimming a very bad corn. Peter and Ven here in eve from Vojens. 1950. Canned 5 qt. + 7 pt peaches, 2 qt. + 12 pt. Whitney crabs (from L. Anderson), made 3 glasses crabapple jelly + 4 pt jam. Kathryn drove to Pardeeville to see about teaching Home Ec. there and in eve to Montfort. Hans going in eve too. He is taking dirt out of garage 1951. Baked brown raisin bread and cream cake. Sig out in P.M. Frank and Hans raised 2 more sides to garage frame. Read in "Two Kinds of Time". 1952. Slept 8 hrs. and Pete Sipple and Herb Niessen start fitting upstairs windows at 2121 Univ. I went with Dirienzo to locate position of family monument. Worked at office 1 hr. and 2 hrs. on books in eve. Canned 6 pt. peaches, 3 pt. peach jam, 5 pt. Balsam Lake applesauce. Made apple jelly. No sleep till after midnight.
