SEPTEMBER 4 1948. I did huge washing by 9:30, Kathryn hanging. Hans and I went to Madison and shopped, saw Sig for first time for 2 mo. Canned 8 qt. tomatoes in new pressure canner. Rev. Weirwill phoned they are at Hallock's since Wed! 1949. Beautiful Sunday. Walked with Miss Jensen to her garden, then thru Kirkegaard and a mill. Fresh head lettuce for dinner. After dinner to Skorping. Walked 3 km. to Rebild Nat'l Park, where Am and Danish flag fly at same height. Took pics of heather, etc. Lillebil back to train, change 3 times, and to Viborg by 10:20. Tired and sleepy. 1950. Labor Day. Sunny and fine, yet cool in eve. Washed, canned 4 1/2 qt. peaches, Signe helping peel. She was here all day sewing. Machined buttonholes in her uniform. Kathryn to teachers' mtg. at Pardeeville home for Dr. in PM. Hans and I at Hofsted's in eve. Riggs' there. We got veg. in Vold's garden. 1951 Planned to help canvass in AM, but Kay Adams didn't arrive till nearly noon. She took me to Leora Davis, who went with her all P.M. Woman's Club in P.M. I canned 2 pt tomatoes, ironed 3 white shirts, etc. 1952 Slept about 9 hrs. in all. Ironed. Wrote publicity for Homemakers' Craft workshop. Worked 3 hrs. in P.M. (OPS) To see Mrs. Henry Zeigler's kitchen in eve.
