SEPTEMBER 6 1948. Labor Day. Did big ironing, went to garden more than hr. for melons, bu. tomatoes, corn, potatoes, lima and str. beans. Canned 7 1/2 qt. tomato juice. K. at Portage at Agne's. Shampooed my hair. Ate some of Mr. Vold's birthday cake. He is 73. I drove to Muscoda. Met about 180 autos. 1949. After good sleep, we walked to wharf on lake and took boat "Tranen" to "Himmelbjerg". Walked to top, took pic. Visited on way back with farm couple from Esbjerg. Took noon train to Fredericia then Lyntog across Fyn, Storebolt on the ferry, then to Copenhagen. Stayed at Kai Allen - 8 floors up! 1950. Began fall house cleaning - part of south bedroom. Took K's old shoes to repair shop. Began contacting Guild membership for blood donors (for war in Korea). Hilda arrived on noon bus from Seattle; is to be with Girl Scouts in C. Bluffs. Aired woolens. Baked bread. 1951. Up 6:15, typed publicity, for flower show and Concert, also Woman's Club story. We - Kay Adams and I - went to Raemisch Consl. Co., Mdltn. Motors ($50), $92.50. Took her to Ruth P. who went in P.M. Verna V. in eve. H. Vold here for 76th birthday supper. 1952 Turned out furnace fire - then it got cooler! In to Madison - Sig and I selected elec. fixtures for new house. Got ticket for speeding in Madison! Worked at Branch all P.M. Mrs. Degn "talked my arm off" at new house.
