September 19

SEPTEMBER 19
1948. Awake at 3, listening for alarm. Up at 4, and we took Kathryn to 5:20 train for Hartford, Conn. (To have dinner at Herman's). Gave apt. pretty thoro cleaning. Rock Co. Beekeepers' Assn. here to see Chinese pics in P.M. Hot. We served lemonade and ice cream and cookies. Drove to Muscoda in eve - just before it rained.
1949. Up early and took 7:45 train from Eina to GIOVIK (gayvik). Bought several things at HUSFLID, inc sweater for me. Bus to Lillehammer - talked with Margarethe Paech, then we took bus with her up to Asgard, on Mt. Walked to Mai hangen Museum. Droje back.
1950 Ironed some before going to Lange's at 8:20. Hans vacationing rest of week. I shrunk blue shaded cambray, crocheted, darned. Home to get Hans' lunch quickly. Voted Rep. in primary election. Started Guild at 7:55. Good meeting. Mrs. Turner spoke. 1 "birthday gift" only.
1951. Took Helen in for whirlpool treatment at Jackson Clinic at 8:30. Picked nearly 1/2 bu. tomatoes, Bought half truckload of Idaho lumber, stored in garage. Went in for Signe and Helen at Sig's office 4:30. Had chicken, pineapple pie. We played Norwegian whist.
1952 Awake 3 to 5. Worked at Branch 9 to 11. Frank went to Milw. on noon bus. I painted Sig's bedroom and bathroom windows, got last melons, etc. from Hts. garden, sprayed flies in new house. Don Sipple and Urb Niessen nearly done Sig's K. [cabs?].
