SEPTEMBER 23 1948 Had charge of assembly first period for Robt. Scott (who is attending Prins' Conf. in Madison). More apron cutting. Typed exam questions for H. Ec 10. Finally got of a box to Marie Radtke. 1949 Letter from Sig that our place was sold 9/20. We took tram to SAL wharf in Goteborg and after shopping a bit - got rayon tablecloth and paper napkins - we boarded the GRIPSHOL in about 2:30. They did not even open our baggage! Late in pulling out 5:46 PM. At first sitting. Some interesting people. 1950 Rex slept 8-9:30 then Hans took him, Victor and Ernest to Des M. to have Al show them thru Farm Bureau fertilizer plant, and lunch with Al and Jo. We 5 girls had lunch together with Flo. Emma and Fred Hadley came, then John and Bertha Goldsberry. The 7 complete [illegible] 5 husbands. Roast beef supper and Wis. cheese. We showed Chinese and European pics in eve. 1951 K, Hans and I left at 7:45 for Clinton 920 Thirteenth Ave. So where Whitson's have lived 2 weeks. Chicken dinner, juice and cake at 3, melon (Jll.) at 4. We helped set up old family spinning wheel. Home 5-8:30. Drove in drizzles. Olga and Orvillege brought Mother S to Jay's, then she came home with us. 1952 Awake 2:45 to 5 - so ironed half my ironing between 3 and 4 AM! Up at 7:30, made bonfire of sawdust, etc. filed off 20 bolt ends in Sig's room where glass knobs are, painted windows outside in NE room and began on west side. Basement stairs and furnaces put in today, door knobs, etc. E.k. cabinet [begin?].
