SEPTEMBER 24 1948. Girls start sewing buttons on cards their spare time. School out at 2:30 and I went to football game with FHA girls who sold pop and cheese sandwiches. M. beat Livingston. 1949. Set clocks back 1 hr. Very gray day, some rain. Sat on deck and read our LIFE magazines. Got "Java Head" by J. Hergesheimer from ship library. A Dame going to Canada, can't speak Eng. is at our table. Talked with Finnish Smith and others. 1950. Slept upstairs with Emma, whose sinus trouble makes her nights noisy. Visiting all day. Iowa farm dinner - chickens, roasting hens, apple pie. Open house in PM. Harriet K. Campbell, Jennie H. Sverson, Grace Deeney Fitch, Anna Wilson, Edna Clark M. I missed Early and Muriel Elijah while we went in to see Geo. and Mary at Dora's 4-5:30. We looked at old snapshots in eve. [Emma?] left. 1951. Took Hans to work, got tomatoes from garden, also glods. In PM took Mother S in to Madison, where she got new Zenith hearing aid. A little rain in eve. We stopped to see Sig. K started at Univs. again! Chem. and Nutrition seminars. 1952. Slept more than 6 hours for first this week. Up at 5:30 and finished ironing. At 2121 Univ 7:25 to 11 and 2 to 5:45 - made 3 bathroom windows opaque, finished painting windows on outside.
