SEPTEMBER 25 1948 Worked at school awhile, walked downtown then Hans came back form Doyle's and we went to Orville Olson's. Had lunch there then home by 2. Mrs. Shafer and I got tomatoes, spuds, and last 5 roasting ears. Shopped. At library. 1949 Set clocks back 30 min. Sunny! But in late P.M. clouds and big waves weren't so nice. Hans seasick. I took Bramamine, which room steward gave us. Sure glad he has some. 1950. Up at 7. Awake 2-4 for 5 nights in a row. To Dora's for breakfast at 8 with Geo. Leffler, Martha Forma (just home from 10 weeks in Europe). We left for home 9:40. Bought bu. tomatoes and case juice at Marshalltown. Call on Kenderdine's Beamax noon to 2. Bridge out east of Independence. I drove long way on dirt roads, thru Devils Backbone Park. Over Miss R at Prairie du Chien. Home via 18. Moon eclipse. 1951 I did a big washing, Mother S. helping at wringer. Canned 2 cans tomatoes, did most of ironing. Sent pr. pajamas with 2 pants and feet, to "little Clara" in Denmark. 1952. Awake 3-5. At 2121 Univ. Ave 8 to 11 and 3 to 6. Painted second coat on inside of 3 outside doors, first coat on 1 inside door. Planed a screen but not enuf. To Mrs. Heinz Meyer's in eve for League of Women Voters. "Know Your Town" I spoke on its characteristics.
