October 4 1948. A new freshman pupil, making 20 Marilyn Rose of Chicago. Sophomores studying wool. Seniors China & silver. {80 degrees} 1949. Slept fairly well on the Breakfast in diner, up in strat-o-dome across 2nd. Chicago 8:20. Parmeles bus to Union Sta. Hermon not in office. 9:45 Milu. Train to Madison, 12:45. Phobe Sig, Treno. Home on bus 2:30. Downtown for key! Lois Wested & I to Woman's Club. {34 degrees} 1950. Cleaned some cupboard, raked leaves 1/2 hr. took broken Chinese dolls to Lillian Koberle, & car for grease job. Finished blouse of chambray dress. Last night's sandwiches didn't agree with me. 1951. Slept nearly 8 hrs. straight. Baked 41 rolls & apples cake. Mended. Called on Mrs. Lamm in AM, Mrs. Hellenbrand & Mrs. Neumann in PM, & Mrs. Westphal & Laurine W. Got orders from Rachel N. & Laurine, also 3 boxes Christmas cards, at special church bdg. 1952. No painter. Finished typing labels & sent Branch Circulars. At Branch 1:15 to 3:30, then went to Blue Mounds with Sig, Marian, Elsie. Cold & windy. 5 of us ate "picnic" supper here at home. Elsie & I learned "Samba" & beat Sig & Marian.
