October 6 1948. Windy AM- rain in late PM. A football game with Prairie du Chiens 2nd team upset my day- classes all short- & the Dubuque singer, men came. Had Doris type exam questions. Frosted my cake. 12 at my class in eve. Dolores M. & I made coffee after & served cake in honor of Altoy & Jean Olson- Mrs. Orville Olson & Mrs. Dorothea Kovars also baked. {80 degrees} 1949. Rainy morning. Hans went in on 7AM bus, back at 9, soaked. Got trunk & unpacked it. I cleaned more in kitchen, had headache rest of day. Walked downtown- Wrote 7 mailed Kodachromes. { 50 degrees} 1950. Cleaned, mended, painted 8 or 9 storm windows on one side. As I got Mrs. Heebruk to drive load I planned to Guest Day at WSCS, Brooklyn. I was free to drive, 4:30 to Pardenville for Kathryn, and get Hans at Portage, 7:50. 1951. Baked bread (K a lot of cookies), worked on chair an hour, froze 2 pkg. Swiss Chard, napped; helped Hans all PM trying to put new fan belt on stoker. Finally got Jin Adley. {24 degrees} Men put in cement steps at 2121. Painter back on job after Sat. off- I fixed up simplified OPS report at Branch. To Madison in PM, transferred $5000 from Anchor & Loan. Savings to my checking acct. Cold day.
