OCTOBER 17 1948. Flowers froze north of house. Quiet day - no tenants in house from 9AM to 5P.M. when Volds came back from Balsam Lake, etc. gave me Textron slip. Signe out. I baked cherry pie, washed hair, went to church. To Muscoda by 9. 1949. The Wehrs left for home before 7AM I washed - inc. a rug, db. blanket, 4 sheets. Started washing storm windows, washed all living room windows on outside. Sig phoned: Pauline + Rita in Madison, so went in - in Vold's car! They left on 5:15 bus. Hans + I ate supper with Signe. Still Indian summer! 79[degrees] 1950. Frank in bed here. I was in bed all day with cold except to make green apron for Guild. Wen to Guild in eve with Kromrey's. Voted two extra V.P's Deone to have charge of bazaar. I got "door prize" - bouquet of oak leaves + helichrysum. 1951. Rainy. I was tired. Ironed (over) - baked bread (while I took nap). Cleaned nook window, etc. Hung fresh curtains. 1951. SNOW! An inch! But it mostly thawed. Plumbers worked faithfully all day - but no cement for our turn around! Ed Rice finished stairway. Frank painting I-Beams in basement + hauling dirt I washed all upstairs windows outside + inside + 5 storms
