October 20

OCTOBER 20
1948 Heavy frost. Nice day. After day of 3 classes sewing, + extra girls sewing in PM, May Bohr + Jeanette B came with a 20x24 pillow to make for a play. Had 13 in adult class in eve.
70[degrees] 1949. Made 6 pt. Wealthy cider apple butter. Airmails out to K + Hilda. Also made apple jelly + 2 qt. sour kraut from half the big cabbage [Offerdohls?] gave us. Mrs Breunig gave me peck of carrots. In eve we + Volds drove to Nakoma.
1950 Cooler - Turned furnace fire up for first this week. Walked downtown, cleaned apt. baked cookies. In PM Mrs. Ed Hasz, Mrs. Swadley + Johnson (Hillcrest Homemakers) Lavona W, +Mrs. Keller here to make U.N. flag. Mrs. Swanlund + I worked on it in eve.
1951 Sat. hall + stain cleaning! Dug some carrots - too muddy. Began delivering Christmas cards. Had Gregory Foss rake north yard + curb.. Sunny. Read in my first Viking book "The Second Circle" by Winston Brebner.
24[degrees]. 1952. Frank started work as salesman, going to Beloit at 7 with Donald Meuer. Fine washday. I finished at 10:20, inc 13 pr hose, 9 shirts, 5 overalls, 4 blue dresses, etc. Drove to Madison, shopped for home, saw Les H + M.G. + E. Co. Ironed an hr.
