OCTOBER 23 1948. Hans made 2 farm visits. I tried to call on 2 village girls - neither home. Put new cover on ironing board, walked downtown. Took good nap. In eve we went with Mitchell's to Lancaster for Grant Co. Ag. teacher's mtg. Big dinner - then we visited with Ben Walkins. 1949. We walked to church - new members taken. First Evg. sermon since June 26. Mr + Mrs P Mc[Noll?] of Ford du Lac here for dinner - ham. Fresh strawberries, etc. Showed pics, etc. John + Lois Shafer here. To Smorgasbord at Pilgrim Cong. with above group. gave them sheep cheese 1950. Made lunch for Frank who moved back here. Arranged to have U.N. flag flown at P.O: Made 3 buttonholes in it. Baked bread + cake. Painted 6 storm windows on 1 side. Got + wrote 7 rec'd box of yellow calla lily bulbs from Hazel Scott. 1951. Raining again. Felt punk but ironed. In PM picked up Alvea Roberts' cookies, took Deone + Mildred Schwab to Homemaker's Tea at CF Meyers'. 101 there! Tea from Russian Samovar. Finished "Second Circle" in eve. Plastic tablecloth for Hilda 1952 Finally got cement - 10 cu. yd. for big "turnaround" Wonderful day. I shoveled too much junk under concrete, hurt my back or kidneys. Made orange jelly, canned pt. tomatoes, worked at Branch 3 hrs, had oil + grease change at Midview. Marion + I sawed board to fit for their towel pole.
