OCTOBER 30 1948. After getting mail and doing banking, Hans and I went to Madison, where I got goods and pattern for worsted skirt. Cut it out and seamed it on Anna May's machine. Cleaned our apt. in an hr! 1949. Colder. I walked to church and back - sat in far back seat as church packed. 9 for dinner - Harjo and Manfred Rietenbach, all of Siders all of Fred Malone's came before we were thru - They left at 5 - Signe at 5:55. We gave Hans' mother framed picture of Danish Church. 77 degrees 80+ in Iowa. 1950 Hans and I left at 7:45 via Dubuque for Maynard for Lillian's funeral, in her father's house. I drove on 3 Hiway from Dubuque. 170 mi. from here. Hans' mother, Orville, Olga, Amanda, Camilla, and Velma there. also Eleanor Mullins Westgate and Gertrude. Home before 10. Tired. Wore black and white sleeveless dress, no coat. 1951. Feel punk, but did ironing, planted daffodils and my 22 birthday tulips. 1952 Slept 7 hrs. as usual this week. Thru washing before 9. Wonderful day. Worked at office, also typed labels here. K and Olga and Amanda dropped in at 11:30 to find way to Sale barn at Madison. K. here for weekend.
