OCTOBER 31 1948. Another nice Sunday. Hans was sneezing too much to go to church so I went alone and didn't even go to the preacher's reception and pound party. Read and napped, finally fixed up list of 14 storm windows we need and ordered them. 1949 Went to Madison on 8:20 bus, saw L. Sasman about $50. I have not rec'd for teaching evening class. At WKOW had recording made of trip to Germany. Home on 11 AM La Crosse bus. Shopped. 3 painters painted our cornices. Florence and Victor Riley arr. 4. Hans helped in Halloween party. Otto and Lillian Kaberle here to see pics. 78 1950. Breakfast and lunches for Hans and Frank. Thru washing before 10. Crocheted colored edge on pillowcase lace. Went to Branch locker for linen, etc. Had fresh tomatoes from garden also lettuce, etc. No furnace fire! "Aunt Minnie" 80 years old today. 1951. Baked "Aunt Minnie"'s birthday cake, Henry got ice cream, and we invited the 2 for 6 o'clock dinner - ham and pheasant (Art Gugel gave us), sweet potatoes, celery sauce, brown bread, NW applesauce, carrot and lemon jello, fr. strawberries on ice cream, cake. To Henderson's and [name]. Oct. FF orders made me 28.50. 1952. Ironed. Several phoning - for our first Guild Auxiliary mtg., at Mrs. Gates' at 2. I took Mrs. Murray and Mrs. Johnston, also took Mrs. Morgan and Mrs. Whitmer home. K. made pics at home - some of new house.
