DECEMBER 3 1948. Awake from 3 AM on made a bad day for me. Freshman exam. Left at 3. Hans and I drove to Maquoketa 3:30-6:30. Took Hans' mother out to Buckham Comm. Assn. where we showed Chinese pics after oyster supper. All the relatives there. Overnite at Oskar's. 1949. Uncle Chris left for home after breakfast. I cleaned up house, baked 3 loaves bread and 36 rolls - 2 pumpkin pies. Worked at Guild bazaar from 1:30 to 8:30, inc. an hr wiping dishes. Cleared $108 on fancy work 16 degrees 1950. Took my red gloxinia with 3 blossoms to church. 10 in S.S. class - last Sunday of Mr. Hofstad's unit. Nap in P.M. At Rabe's from 4-6 checking on bazaar money we figured is 477.84 net. K and I with Rabe's to hear Dr. T. Kagawa. 61 degrees 1951. Washed and hung outside. Warmest recorded Dec. 3. Hans back to work at Branch all of AM and 1/2 of P.M. I called on Pearl Foss and Mrs. Braun walked home - looked like rain. Hans and I called on Carrie and Elmore Wittenberg, saw their new home. 1952 Didn't sleep much after 4:30. I took out 52 cinders as Frank is still in bed. Worked on books, then 4 hrs. at office in P.M. Mrs. Creasey brought me 7 left-over bazaar aprons. 2 boxes cards, etc. came; marked them, sorted out orders, etc.
