DECEMBER 4 1948. Up to 63 degrees. After 10:30 we drove over newly graded road to Lost Nation and got our 4 walnut chairs Wazoc had made. Called on Lafe and John Scott's and Edna Walker, sick. Supper at Amanda's and overnight as couldn't phone Clara Poole. Bath in new bath tub, peas and meat from deep freeze. 1949. Slept 8 hrs. A tired lot of women at church. We walked, rode back with Heebink's. Carl and Nettie Brandt, Ruth and Joan here for dinner and supper and enjoyed pics from Norway and other countries also souvenirs. They took Ruth to 8 PM bus for Milwaukee, where Ruth is in beauty culture school. 1950. Slept about 4 hrs. so slept 7:30 to 9, then did washing. K. hung a lineful of white ones outside. Sunny but cold. I took money to bank - and it turned out to be $540.83! Kids cleaned basement. Greeting cards made $8 for bazaar. 1951 Rendered lard. Mrs. Wm. Parker Jr. picked me up at 2 for Woman's Club. Very nice meeting, in village hall. I was acting Treas. in Carrie W's place. Had names of gifts to correspond to members initials, such as Red Anderman, Acoustic Watch, etc. Sold Carrie W. an order in eve. 1952. Slept 8 hrs+. Got payroll figures reconciled, did a little washing, made a butterfly apron, pressed and wrapped up 5 aprons for "mystery bundles". Drove downtown in fresh slush. Mrs. Dietz here a few minutes. Wrote several birthday notes.
