DECEMBER 6 1948 Cold but not bad. Sr. girls knitting and we began on Textile painting. Hans' shop work began in P.M. I drove downtown for supplies after school. Letter writing will be big occupation in Dec. Walked to library. Snappy but nice out. 1949 Colder. Shopped downtown; sent Hans' mother pr. black gloves. In PM I showed pics to Woman's Club at H. Raemish's. Their new elec. organ was an attraction. Got ironing board cover as exchange gift. Saw "Trip Around World" by Maxine [last name] at Cath. school. 31 degrees 1950. Snowed all day and night. Frank and K. shoveled. K and I went to Madison. Several inches snow, slush on roads. I bought shoes, overshoes, muted rose nylon dress. Puttied pane in N. storm door. Began Christmas notes. 1951 Cleaned up after party, took rest of Mildred Schwab's choc. angel cake back to her. Called on Mrs. Williby in PM, to Sunnyside for Hans' wooden horses, brot Mrs. Moffitt in. Called on Mrs. Newmann with newspaper accts of Lyle Bentley's funeral. 1952 Thrs. Fine Day! At Branch 1 1/2 hrs in AM. Took big boxes of cards, my baking etc to church at 1. Worked at "mystery bundle" and card booth till 7. Verna Vath helping after mid P.M. Sold 41 " bundles. Netted nearly $50.00. Ate turkey plate supper. Bob and Coralee Lenche here 10-11.
