DECEMBER 7 1948. Freshmen made muffins - having to clean up afterward, thereby not being loved by Prin and Mr. Greene. Joyce painted a lunch cloth. Sophs made junket and honey custard. Totaled up Nov. lunches. 1949 Hung most of washing in basement as we had skiff of snow, but white things outside dried. Had hr. sunshine. Baked 2 loaves bread, rendered about 15 lb. lard from our half hog. Hans stayed at Signe's for supper and attended a Mich. Prof's lecture at Univ. 1950 Snow let up in AM but harder than ever all PM and colder. Drifting 10 or 12 inches. I mended, napped, finished off new dress, cut out "scrap apron". K to camera club, Home 11:30 bus; Frank shoveling out his car, so no sleep till midnight. I cut out "scrap apron" 1951 Rather windy. Walked to bank, baked salt-less bread and cookies for Hans. Drove to Madison in P.M - got shoes, a few Christmas gifts, saw K in new diet kitchen (and got parking ticket!) 1952. Grand day. Tummy ache at 4:30. To church early, fixed huge pulpit "mums" Avis brought in yesterday. Bill Parker and Sig here for dinner. She came over and got dinner! Took cards to Verna V. called on the Degns and the Petersens (whose pic is in State Journal today)
