DECEMBER 8 1948 Finally got express pkg. off to Frank - his shotgun shells. Downtown at noon for eggs for hot lunch cookies. Sophs. made Holiday fruit bars, Chocastacka, and molasses raisin nut fudge. Were scheduled for Chinese pics but new screen has not come. Bot groceries for Marie R 8 degrees 1949 Walked downtown twice. Ironed, mended - how nice to have time for it! Made apron for Dora's birthday and sent it. Rush order from Frank for car title, etc. which I sent. Addressed some Christmas cards. 1950. Only slept till 4 so felt tough all day. Baked whole wheat bread, mended, started sewing 2 aprons. Hans home at 7. Snow and wind quit in PM. K and Frank finally got our walks and driveways shoveled. Got first Christmas card - from Tom Skuce in Germany? 1951 Awake from 2 - then overslept till 7:40 so Hans was a little late to work. I felt very miserable all P.M, dressed in P.M. Ann Meyer and Margaret Hofstad here on business calls. Wrote first Christmas cards. 1952 Foggy, sloppy. Did 2 wks. washing, baked rolls for pot luck Homekers supper. In PM helped cut crinoline Christmas trees for Vet Hosp. at Thielke's. 16 at supper at Malcolm's. I came home to translate Aunt K's letter to her brother John, most difficult yet. Got box of fir and holly from Hilda - Holly from her backyard.
