DECEMBER 11 1948. Went to Madison on 8:20 bus. Got textile painting brushes and patterns, ordered rug from Ward's. Home on 12:05 bus. Took nap. Cleaned apt. Walked to printing office 3 times and had Tommy print our Christmas verses. 60 degrees! 1949. Rain overnight took away all snow. Walked to church and back. Wrote several Christmas cards and letters. Rode with Heebink's to candle light service at 4. We and Salchenberger's to Heebinks' in eve to see their Western pics. Fine. Rain and thunder in early P.M. 1950. Hans in Madison office this week. Water was hard so didn't wash. Wrote cards, slept half the P.M - luckily! In eve, went to Homemakers' Club. Christmas party at Raemisch's. Big supper, Bingo - I won box cards, soap. 1951 First day in Dec. below normal temp. Felt punk, but did ironing, walked to Homemakers' Center Christmas party in old gym. Had charge of gift exchange. Using "names of gifts" like initials. Made salt-less cream puffs. 1952 Mended, sewed on cobbler apron for Anna Pratt, till I ran out of thread. In eve Frank and I saw "David and Bathsheba" - and I got a free green plate. Snowed a couple inches
