DECEMBER 18 1948 bus. Thru Sauk City and Mazomaine. Driver did not stop for me at Middleton. Madison at 1. Taxi home by 2! Slept till 9 with K. In AM we laid our new Stratton Rose wilton velvet carpet, assisted by Lois and John Shafer. Hans home in PM. 2" snow, our first. 1949 The 3 of us to church with Mrs. Heebrink. Had best sleep for 4 nights. Signe out to spend evening. 1950 -11 degrees Up at 5. Drove to Standard Oil station to wait for 6:30 bus which Hans took to Eau Claire. Big washing filled west basement. Nap. Walked down town. Got 17 cards. 1951 Fighting off aches of flu with ascorbic acid. Walked down town twice. Sent pkg to Helen. Wrote more cards. Mail carrier came twice - brought 17 cards and letters. More than last year at Guild in spite of graded school program "Christmas Pep. Comm." helped! 1952. Ironed. Got box of fine mistletoe and gorgeous rose hips from Oregon. Wrote a lot of Christmas letters and cards. Sent Mother Skott a Christmas book and Dora and Helen each a "Wis. Calendar". Sawed some boxes for crinoline Christmas trees
