DECEMBER 19 1948 The Shafers left for the holidays in Indiana. Mr. Vold shoveled 2" snow from our walks. K and I went to church. The 3 massed choirs sang. Hans has a cold. Signe tried teaching me to knit. 1949. Only 4 washerfuls - hung inside. Muggy weather. Baked 3 loaves bread, with grandma's yeast (by my recipe). Mailed pillowcases to Dora. O'Bridges paid off on place - so now we can be out of debt. 1950 Ironed. More cards. Walked down town in PM. Drove to Guild in eve, taking Mr. Kromrey and Mrs. Hallock. Had our mtg. in basement. 23 there. $569 from bazaar! Guild decided to sponsor yearbook and a pancake supper. Cranberry nut bread and wh. cream dessert. 1951 14 more cards. Washed - hung all in basement except reel full whites to freeze in garage. Got hand emb. Danish hdkf. from Josefine Jensen, Westerhassing, Denmark. Nap. Sent Dora pkg in P.M. 1952. Finished 21 bases, Mary Thielke, Louise Schwab and I took them to Vet. Hosp. and set up the little trees. Got my new lenses, rug for Sig. 2 more Christmas books. Got circulars and prepared them. Began to snow.
