JANUARY 5
1917. Fine day. I quilted, got the mail, and chased pigs home nearly from the River-to-River road. Crokinole: Leslie 1, I 1, tie, then he 1. 
1918. Very soft weather yet, and cloudy. Baked white and Graham bread, mopped kitchen, made red tie and sewed it and wool shirt to August in East Moline. Took shower bath and helped a little on table. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson here in evening. At "500" we quit after 30 hands away in the hole.
1919. We heard the best sermon we have heard in Dakota by Rev. Hoogland, district supt. Text, Isaiah 4: “They that wait upon the Lord shall...walk and not faint.” Read in P.M. Wrote to Hans’ mother.
1920. Finished embroidering Helen’s collar. She went back to Northwestern Univ., with Anna Nichols of Nichols who was here for dinner because their train was 3 1/2 hrs. late. Cow tester here for overnight. 
1921. Made Hilda two pairs of white outing panties by Sis’ pattern. Started sewing by 9:00 A.M. for once, actually. Also hemmed new dishtowel and wash cloths, etc.
