JANUARY 15 1917. We canned apples. I finished embroidering my birthday cushion (which was Elizabeth Leffler's her birthday being same as mine, only 1 year younger). 1918. -8° at ten o'clock when I went for mail. Letter from papa. Bought and sent Beatrice celluloid windmill and return ball for her birthday. Wrote to Crete, Miss Clark and folks. 30 at Red Cross. Busy sewing on hospital shirts. Meet 3 times a week from now on. I finally got a food chairman - Mrs. Lars Umdahl. Adeline Davids here in eve. 1919. Finished ironing, hemmed 3 diapers, finishing first dozen. Finally cut out sleeves of blue wool dress. Hans and I walked to P.O. Letter from Mrs. Cogswell, and card from Aunt Minnie. Wrote long letter to Sis. 1920. Canned 12 qt. beef papa got in Muscatine, hemmed 2 kitchen towels. Folks started for Dora's in P.M. Ray Oxley & Mr. Ricter helped George put up barn rafters. They went home after supper. Got my pictures. Wrote to Hans and Myrtle Nelson. 1921. Mopped dining room before breakfast, as Hans is milking the 14 cows alone. Made myself blue and white striped flannel nightie, trimmed with blue thorn stitch.
