JANUARY 16 1917. We canned raspberry-apple butter. Mamma and I put the woolen comfort she pieced for me in the frames, and we quilted more than half of it. 1918. Snowed all forenoon. I did the washing. Got 5 letters, from Hans (at Moorhead), Edith B., Hazel S., Helen, and Millie and Paul. Shoveled off walks; got out some hairpin lace and made enough more for 1 pillowcase that Helena sent Christmas. Wrote to Olga and Herman. 1919. Another warm sunny day. I canned 4-1/2 qts. pumpkin, the last of them, steamed graham pudding. Harry Boyts came from Brookings, and he and Hans went to Garfield Institute for P.M. & eve. I made blue sleeves. Hemmed last linen napkin. Wrote home. I walked to P.O. - dry shod for once. Letter from Partha & Hans' mother. 1920. Letter from Sis. Canned 6 qt of beef & soup, baked three pumpkin pies (two for the party, which we attended in the evening. Womens Social Club entertained their families at Shellabarger's. Fine cafeteria supper - I ate with Pliny Nichols. Played progressive [Somerset?]. Home at 11. 1921. A windy, blustery day - nice to stay by fire except to go out and gather my 20 eggs. Wrote to Helen and inventoried some things for account book and helped to add up accounts, etc.
