JANUARY 17 1917 I started taking osteopathic treatments from Dr. Hinchman. We did a two weeks' washing in a little over 2 hrs. with engine. Mamma went to Iowa City to see George. 1918. Constance and I ironed. I sorted apples, mended a bit, wrote to Hans and got one from him. Went to Red Cross all P.M. Helped have charge, as I help Mrs. Oberg on sewing comm. 14 there - fine for first Thurs. 1919. I sent for Wallaces' Farmer for Hans' birthday. Hans came home shortly after midnight, after giving illustrated soils talk to 300 people. He went back to Garfield Institute all day & eve. I made 6 buttonholes in little long cloth dress. Also sewed on dress, made 9 diapers 20 x 40. Mrs. Rees called. Had Dr. Burkland give me flu inoculation. August here an hr. 1920. Hans should get Hilda's and my pictures today. I'm too busy to get his new shirt started. Two extra men to feed takes some cooking this cold weather. Baked a pie and washed for Hilda. Took coffee & cake to barn for men in P.M. Mopped. Wrote to Amanda and Hans' Aunt Martha. 1921. Zero in morning. I sent for 3 yr. subscription to Wallace's Farmer for Hans' birthday. Hazel Warren helped me with a 3 weeks' washing, also cleaned up a couple rooms. We had waited for repairs, but Hans has to work a lot with the engine, anyway. Started new pillow case.
