JANUARY 18 1917. We finished quilting my woolen comfort. 1918. Mashed thimble finger putting heavy [tarmarack?] in heater. Baked rye bread, - one loaf for the bachelor. Let Daisy and Mike out for a romp. I took shower bath, then went home with Mrs. Cogswell and crocheted. Went with Constance to Senior-Junior party in schoolhouse. Played "Telegram," "Spin pan," etc. Ice-cream, etc. 1919. Hans got home after 1:00 A.M. after highly successful Institute. I baked him and August a birthday cake as August came in for dinner from W. Gunderson's, where he started to work. Also made peanut fudge. Trimmed blue silk collar & cuffs on new dress with clear beads. Made most of first "Gertrude." Got 50# cheese from Hallan's factory, bogley. Gallup's came for some, then we played "500." 1920 Had breakfast at 8 - late for Elmenhurst. Two inches of snow fell. Cold. Mrs. Nienaber canceled her dinner invitation as she was not well. A quiet day. Wrote to August, Helena, and their grandmother & sent them pictures of baby. 1921. Ironed a little, but couldn't stand long at a time. Finished first pillowcase, trimmed with novelty [braid?] for insertion. Slept an hour. Long letter from mama. Adela is going home evenings this week, so we're alone for once.
