JANUARY 30 1917. I cut out the new brocade part for my light blue landsdowne dress collar and alternate skirt gores. I helped Millie learn crocheting. 1918. -52° at 7:00 A.M. and -20° at 5:00 P.M. but bright and sunny. Coldest I ever saw. Squeegeed some pictures, dried some potatoes, trimmed old blue messaline over-blouse with ribbon fluting and new collar. Took shower bath. Letters from mamma and Hans. Wrote Hans letter and mama a card. 1919. Very sunny, but milk standing on porch froze a little. Wrote to Hans and walked to P.O. in forenoon to mail it. Letter from mamma - they all had "flu," but not sick abed. She sent knitted lace for petticoat. I cut out and hemmed another dozen birds-eye diapers. Went to pupils' recital at University with Mrs. Stewart. Wrote to Amanda, her mother & birthday card to Velma. 1920. Uncle John went home and papa went to Walcott Institute. Mamma and I cleaned up the house, upstairs and down. Bright forenoon changed to raw cold evening. Only ten came to Grange. I spoke "Cheer for the Consumer." We served doughnuts, coffee, gingersnaps, and oranges. Visited till nearly 12. Put Hilda to bed at 7, as usual. 1921. After pains & a headache, but I slept. Mrs. Alf Ruggeberg brought me a blossoming cineraria and pink carnations for baby from Guild. Signe weighed 8 lbs. Hans wrote to mamma yesterday.
