JANUARY 31 1917. A raw, misty day. Mamma kept Verna while Millie and I spent the day at Fitzgerald's. Little Dorothy Davis, Jessie's baby, is getting plump. 1918. About 30° below, with just enough wind to make it sharp. Finished over blouse, dried more potatoes, made mock mince pie. Finished hospital shirt at Red Cross I started Tuesday. Letter from Mildred Savage. Mike helps milk - Daisy jumped out. 1919. Planted box of tomato seed. Cooler, but sunny. I cleaned up house, but did it too well, especially our bedroom, as it made me so tired. Baked jam cake, finished last week's mending, finished reading "Jane Eyre." Margaret went home again. Wrote to Aunt Minnie and Millie. Spent evening with Mrs. Rees. Slept here alone. 1920. Canned 10 qts. of beefsteak and did a washing for baby. Sewed on her quilt in P.M. Aunt Minnie sent me a blue gingham apron, cross stitched. 1921. Feel good & Hilda sleeps most of time except for waking for night feedings. Adela didn't get to see Signe till after school. I wrote to Amanda & Sis & card to mamma. Hazel Warren came and did a two weeks' washing.
