FEBRUARY 5 1917. Washed some, mopped, did some pressing, and shortened my dark blue landsdowne dress. 1918. A March wind in morning, turning into very nice mild day. Sat down to sew at 8:20 A.M. - quite unusual. Fixed up two partly worn waists - a blue serge and blue silk, into one good one. Finished ironing. Started another hospital shirt at Red Cross, whose meeting place was changed to S.W. room in high school. Letter from Hans at Brookings. 1919. Did a big 2 wk's. washing, but it snowed most of P.M. Clothes dried fairly well, tho. Co. Commissioners tell Hans they "have decided to keep you another year." We tired of sitting on fence of indecision. I worked on bedspread nearly 2 hrs., crocheted some. Letter from Sis. 1920. Snowed all day. Mamma was laid up with grip. I did all the housework, baked gingerbread. We didn't get to go to Mabel Wolf's shower at club at Gibson's. Cut and sewed rug rags, and crocheted on rug. Canned 1-1/2 qt. ground beef and 1 qt beef soup stock. 1921. Signe weighs eight pounds at one week, having just held her own. Think I'll have enough to feed her - certainly hope so. Mrs. Bolt went to town and Laura Bolt stayed with me and did the work. Hans went to town again, too.
