April 26 1917. Dora and Beatrice took me the long raw ride to Stockport to make the 4:49 train. Sprinkled in Ft. Madison, so put in my time reading. We got to W.L. a little ahead of time, about 11:45 P.M. 1918. Miss McNeil stayed over night with us, but after breakfast went to the Univ.- Woman's Vocational Conference on. I heard Dean Lois Mathews of Wis. U. at Univ. Convocation at 11, on "The Making of Americans". Talked on canning, etc. at last day at Clay Point school in P.M. F.H. Churchill '08 + Neal, '11, government agents buying seed corn, played 500 with us in eve. 1919. Hilda was the "best ever" while Hans stayed all night out in country, sleeping from 11:30 to 5:30 without waking. Dakota winds still keep us from taking her out. I went to town in P.M. Made three gallons of beer in evening. Worked on first pillowcase to match sheet. Mrs. Martin Swedling here in P.M. 1920. Rainy again. 100% hatch from 2 hens with goose eggs. I get half for hatching them for Skotts. I pressed Hans' suit, made a big batch of soap. Wrote to mamma. 1921. Rainy in P.M. kept us chasing chicks. Mamma went home on morning train from Nashville. I made flowered shelf cover for dining room shelf. Had a good nap.
